Previously Looked-After Children

Support and advice for previously looked-after children's parents, guardians and schools

Choosing a school for your child

A checklist for adoptive parents and special guardians

A useful questionnaire that you can use as a frame of reference when visiting a new school and meeting with the designated teacher, head or other members of staff is attached below as a word document.

Questions include 'How do staff make a special effort to welcome adopted children?' and 'Do school staff consult children who are adopted about how public they wish their status to be?'

This is an adaptation of Catherine Carroll and Claire Cameron's checklist for a 'self-assessment audit of school practices in relation to Looked After Children.
